Does IQ affects my grades?

I've always wondered. Just by curiosity. Even though it really doesn't change anything. To be honest, I probably think about it every time I get a grade under the average. It used to tear me up when I spend as much time and effort than someone else, but I wouldn't get the result.
The answer is clear to me: yes of course it does. Fortunately, it is not the only thing that influences my grade. I watch this TED talk during my first year of law school and I would totally agree with that guy. Especially the doing practice exams part.
Sometimes, you just can't fully understand a suggestion unless you fail and rethink about it. So he said « Don't just aim to work hard » and « Don't study hard, study smart ». Easy to say. After 2 years, I am still trying to discover the secret of open book exams. But here is a major thing I realized: study with different people! Study with someone that has a different studying method. Limit the group to 3 people.
